My courses finished July 17. Grades were finalized and submitted to the registrar's office on July 21.

I submitted my application last week, all transcripts were in but the one for the courses above.

Now reading on the registrar's site, after trying to order my transcript for them, that those grades are not available via transcript until 8/14. 🙁 (not my home institution but they are all A's and it'd be nice to have them included now 🙂 )

Likelihood of AMCAS changing that to "Current" so verification can start? It's not that big of a deal since my MCAT is not until 8/22 but, it'd be nice to have that verification party started.

Or is this a suck it up moment?

no. waiting for transcripts (the one mentioned above). all others are in.

If there is a missing transcript, nothing will start. They will not verify an app partially just to wait on another transcript. You will be marked "Ready for Review" when your transcript is received and processed/marked as such. That will likely be 7-10 days after the Registrar sends it out on 8/14. You'll probably be verified right around when your MCAT score comes out in late Sept.

I hope your application is good enough to justify such a late application!

I understand @avgn My question was whether I could have AMCAS change the designation from "Finished" to "Current" to get the process started.

You're taking the MCAT 8/22 if I'm understanding correctly? If so, then it doesn't matter if you start verification now, because you won't be complete at schools until end of september anyways when you get your MCAT score

That being said, I would recommend you apply early next year since that's a very late app

Lancer, thanks. Next year is only after this year and no II / acceptances.

Or never, if I bomb the MCAT 🙂

I don't understand what "Finished" to "Current" means, but the verification process will be started automatically when your AMCAS is submitted and transcripts all received.

Yeah no really...what we are saying is that becoming completely in late Sept is a very very late app that will contribute a lot to your getting no IIs or acceptances. People getting IIs in October will be scheduling for January already

When you submit your grades into AMCAS, you have to click semester and year OR you can alternatively select "Current."

In my case, my class was finished July 17. The term was finished July 21. Grades were submitted and finalized July 21. So I selected the term, "Summer 1, 2015" and submitted. Afterwhich, I found out that despite my grades being final and submitted, the registrar's office will not be able to supply an official transcript until Aug 14.

So, my question was: has anyone called AAMC and requested they change a class from a term/year to a "Current/Future."

I hear you on late app; I wanted my courses final grades before submitting to make sure I still "have" it. Lots of you have much higher records of achievement than I do but I knew that before I started this wee journey 🙂

@avgn - I understand. I do. If that is your Twitter and that is your real MDAPPS, I do not have your qualifications. I have to rely on full packages and pray, somewhere out there is a seat with my name on it.

IF that does not happen this year, then I re-evaluate.

 Okay as long as you know where you stand! Good luck! I think the late app thing may be a bit overstated. As long you still have good application, you'll be hurt but it's not death.
Don't bother with changing the term; it's irrelevant. AMCAS will start verifying your app when the transcripts that you said you were going to send actually arrive at their office. Just make sure you have the pending transcript actually on your AMCAS so they know to wait for it.

Twitter? I don't have a Twitter haha

@avgn - oh, I understand where I'm at. Trust me. I wish things were different, but they are not.

@ twitter - when I pulled up your MDAPPS and then googled your name, it came up with a twitter feed that is interesting. Maybe you want to change your MD Apps name? or not? Has to do with video gaming, and angry video game nerds at comi con and what-not.

Good luck to you - no doubt with your stats, somewhere there's a seat with your name waiting for you!

My username is a tribute to the genius who is James Rolfe, aka the Angry Video Game Nerd, yes.
If you like video games at all (or just have a sense of humor), watch some of his AVGN episodes.

I play WoW. End game. I like video games 🙂 (played EQ before that, Zelda, Mario and pre-Flintstones, I played C-64's, Atari and Ms. PacMan, not to be confused with the normative PacMan 😀 ) And yes, real women do play WoW 😛

Though, admittedly, that is NOT on my AMCAS nor will I discuss it IF I get an II. lol

Oh man if you've played that old stuff like Atari and NES then you'll loooooooooooove AVGN. Start with this:
