amcas contacts: will they be contacted?

It's funny that they made us put contacts for our activities without addresses or phone numbers. What is the purpose of the contact info -- just to know that there are contacts (kind of an implicit proof that we're not lying)? Do they actually look these people up? (NOt that that would be a problem of course.) 👍

Oh, they don't need to ask for it. They have ways to find out. Turst me. How else would the AMCAS death squads know where to show up at 2 AM to verify this info?

No, I don't think the AMCAS people check. I think it is in case something is suspicious, the individual schools/adcoms have something to work with in terms of verifying an activity.

AMCAS would not verify the activites, but the specific medical schools you applied to, might. most admissions committees do not have the time and resources to verify every single activity mentioned in your application, but i wouldn't be surprised if they contact certain places if it raises a red flag or if the activity is located in the area of the particular school. i know of a story, although it is second-hand, of a guy who was rejected at UCSF after an acceptance because he lied in his application about conducting research at the UCSF Medical Center.

yea...he must be a ****** for doing that. who lies bout that!

anyway, i doubt they contact ever. unless its something they really like or important to your application...long term stuff maybe. or they think its fake.
