Would it look strange to adcoms if the number of hours you were involved in an activity changed from one application cycle to another (hours are less the second time around)?
I was involved in the development of a research project (i.e. I wrote tools that would have been used for the project, wrote the intro for the paper, read literature pertaining to the subject matter) but ultimately the project wasn't ever carried out because my supervisor wanted me to come up with the funds for the project. I estimated the amount of hours 500+ over an 8month period because I took into account reading/writing time for the project. But since there's nothing to show from the experience, like a publication, poster presentation, LOR, etc, I feel as though mentioning it would hurt me in my reapp.
Am I correct in making this assertion and what should I do about it?
I also included future hours for a volunteering activity the first time around but was not able to complete them. Would lowered hours look strange to adcoms?
Thank you for your advice!
