Hey guys - Id really appreciate anyone's advice on this, esp faculty !!

So I was looking over my AMCAS which was in very early (June, all secondaries in by mid August) in preparation for an interview, when I realized that for a research experin car I had my senior year of college (2013) I accidentally put down 50 hours instead of 150. I listed this as one of my most significant experiences and am now freaking out a bit since this would mean schools think I was there for 3 hours a week instead of 10. I have ZERO perspective on whether it would be appropriate to email schools at this point to update/correct. I don't want to seem super neurotic or point out my own carelessness, but to think I did a third of the time I actually did, for something I listed as significant feels a bit like a major deal. If this impacts even a single application decision for me I would just feel SO dumb after all the hard work I put in. HELP!!!

150 hours of research isn't that much anyway. If you wrote 50 vs 500 that would be a bit bigger deal and I'd consider an update, though I still wouldn't think it's completely necessary. If you think the letter from your PI is strong, I wouldn't worry about it. Quality over quantity.

Thank you. It was only a semester of research so it's the difference between doing a full day a week vs a few hours but I hear you.

Mistakes happen. If you have an II, obviously it was fine enough.

I mean thousands of ppl get secondaries and get rejected so obviously plenty of apps are good enough for secondary but not interview/acceptance. Just making sure this doesn't play into that....

You said you were prepping for an interview...

Oh yea sorry i forgot II means interview not secondary. But yea same applies. Anyway I just think it's not a perfect science so just bc I got some interviews I wasn't just gonna let the mistake stand... I wanted to decide whether to correct it based on what's best not based on the fact that I've gotten some good results so far. But thanks for the input, I get what you're saying.

Dont you have interviews to harvard and st. louis LOL, necrotic much?

Seriously, why would you get on a message board to creep on someone's posting history in order to name-call. It just makes you seem bitter and mean. Regardless of how many interviews or where they are, I think anyone who puts in the amount of effort that this process requires would want to know if there's a way to fix a careless error that objectively makes an app less strong.

So this is what Harvard interviewees sounds like 🙂

And I have a lot more interviews than just that.... Probably because I'm detail oriented, and yea, maybe neurotic. I'm also supportive of others and would never laugh at someone on a message board because they were stressed out.
