I wanted to get some advice to see if there's any way to get AMCAS application changed if you caught mistakes on it (such as word choice etc, or spelling lets say. My error wasn't a spelling mistake but yeah you get the point)
Would individual schools change it for you if you called them individually?
I know AMCAS says they wouldnt, but what if you add more schools, is there any way to update it?
Any opinions/advice? Does this usually happen? Maybe I am freaking out for nothing?
If it is a relatively minor error that doesn't have broad impacts (lying about something would have broad impacts, but spelling errors, no), I wouldn't worry too much about it. There isn't much you can do at this point, anyway, to that regard. I wouldn't recommend alerting the schools to the error because more than likely, they won't even notice it. Plenty of people make minor mistakes; it just proves you are human. I think I might have missed one comma, etc., but that's nothing to fret over; if the error isn't glaring, people's minds generally fill in the missing word, correct the misspelling, or even put in the punctuation needed. It's how our minds work; we chunk whole words and sentences, rather than look at individual characters. The problem is, being pre-med and having a lot at stake, we often react too severely over some spilt milk. Relax, it'll probably be okay.
The error you describe sounds minor, so I wouldn't worry about. If it shows up at an interview, then honestly tell them that you made a mistake, and it'll more than likely blow over.
If it's an error that has integrity connections, then I'd recommend talking to your pre-medical advisor, as this could have serious reprecussions. Otherwise, take a chill pill, and triple check your work from now on.
