Quick question to those reapplicants:

I am now reapplying for the third time. I have spoken with some of the schools that rejected me and they all thought my essay was a strong point. Last year I redid most of the essay except about 2.5 paragraphs, but now I really dont know if I can write a better essay.

I think that I should revise most of it adding the last years things and showing my new perspective but I dont want to change the tone of it and many of the sentences still apply.

So, my question is, how do adcoms look upon personal statements from year to year? Do they want to see a new essay or is just a revised, updated essay okay?

thanks

by last year, do you mean the 2003/2004entering cycle? an adcom director told me that he looks at the old app and gets very pissed when people submit the same thing. so try to change it. in the past 2 or 3 years you must have done some new shiznat...maybe you can write about that. hmm, hope you can figure it out!

Of course I will change things and add new stuff and write about my feelings this year, but I have a lot of great stuff in the essay that I feel still applies. Do you think it will matter if I have some of the same stuff in the essay?
