Would it be appropriate to put under Honors/Awards on the experience section of the AMCA app that I graduated with Honors (BS in Biology w/ 3.8 GPA) or is the Honors thing self-explanatory with a 3.8?

Also, is it cheesy to put that I was nominated for Graduate Student of the Year (didn't actually win, just nominated by my department) while doing my masters?

Are these ligitimate things to put under Honors/Awards or will they look like filler on my app?

It depends, meaning if you have *other* honors awards stuff then I would lump it with the above...like *nominated for top grad student, graduated with honors, etc...I myself did not put all the dean list yada yada because duh they knew with my cum gpa..so I guess that I would only put the above if there is other stuff under honors/awards that is more substantial...but of course this is just one opinion..

If you have the honors, by all means include it if you have the space! I wouldn't assume anything in this process, since so many people fall through the cracks. It can't hurt you to include it (unless of course you have something stronger to take it's place)! 👍

Thanks for the opinions.

If you have several (or many) awards to include, can you lump them as one thing? Like, list all awards in one box?

Alternatively, if you have awards for activities or research, do you recommend just including the awards when talking about those activities or research?

Or should we try to list each award individually...? (And then just list only the most major ones?)

Thanks.

How about honors societies that you chose not to pay the fee to join. Meaning, you've been selected for membership but did not want to pay the fee?

I wouldn't include honor societies that you didn't join. They didn't help you on your path towards becoming a doctor and aren't relevent experiences since you didn't join. Adcoms will see it more as a space filler anyway.

I'd also say to include only the major awards/honors/experiences. If you have room to include all of them, then do it. But if not, you can talk about them in your secondaries or interviews if they are important to you.
