So I am a little confused as to what I should put down for a few activities. I am the president of a student organization on campus and have been for 2 years. We do a lot of community service events as well as cooking demos on campus. However, I am not sure how many hours to put for this activity, am i including all the hours spent planning, meetings, etc? or should i do a rough estimate? If i had to guess, I would say i have put in close to 220 hours of work for the org over 2 years.

Also I tutor privately and for a company and have done so for the last 4 years, lol I have no idea how many hours I have put in privately, I can find out how many hours at work currently but its got to be close to 400 or so hours.

What is the best way to go about this? How intensely will they be checking, obviously im not going to document some outlandish amount of numbers

For things that are not set in stone, go for a higher estimate I would say... and no, how would they check?

A good faith estimate is all that's expected, though sometimes it's better to underestimate just so you don't raise any eyebrows. Yes, you'd include planning time and meetings.

For the tutoring, whoever pays you would have a record of all your claimed hours. This payroll office would also be a good choice for a Contact.

Some schools check everything, not necessarily before you matriculate. Some don't check, and others check what seems too good to be true.

@Catalystik So I am documenting my tutoring hours and at my current employer I have already completed 345.5 hours over the last year and prior to starting at this company I worked as a private tutor for 3 years prior. I believe I have accumulated over 1000 hours of tutoring over these 4+ years would that seem too outlandish? It is probably even an underestimate of the total number of hours

For fourish years, it's reasonable for a full-time student, considering that 2000/yr is a full time job. Of course, it will depend on what else you did during that same timeframe. Be sure it looks like you had time to sleep.

@Catalystik Thank you! I hate to keep asking questions lol but when it comes to shadowing, I am planning on getting some shadowing right before i submit my app, I did shadow a few years ago in Arizona with a few docs for about 25-30 hours should I list their info in AMCAS? I need a contact so I was planning on listing the most recent Dr. there and then do i just list the other Dr.'s in the explanation with their respective contact info?

@Catalystikwhen it comes to shadowing, I am planning on getting some shadowing right before i submit my app,
1) I did shadow a few years ago in Arizona with a few docs for about 25-30 hours should I list their info in AMCAS?
2) I need a contact so I was planning on listing the most recent Dr. there and then do i just list the other Dr.'s in the explanation with their respective contact info?
1) Yes.
2) That's exactly what I would have recommended.
