Hey everyone

I was just wondering if people knew from past experience or hearing from friends how long it usually took early June submitters to have their application processed?

someone said theirs was just processed and they submitted the morning of june 1st.. so ~10 days? (but weekends don't count so 7-ish)..... more as the applications pile up..

when did your transcripts get to amcas though? i sent mine out, but they got there i think on the 30th of may... i submitted the app on the 1st of june as well, but i'm still in line to get verified. seems to take a really long time... what do u think?

did YOU send your transcripts out? if so, they are not valid - have to be sent by your school. if you mean the school sent them, then i would actually check with AMCAS. yes, you run the risk of being annoying, but there was actuallly a problem with my application. it had been verified and processed, but they had not updated it online, so if i hadn't called and checked and they hadn't recognized the problem, it might not have been available to schools for a while.

also, make sure that the transcript request you put in to the university was actually filled. I requested my transcripts before i left the country (on May 3rd) to be sent to amcas when the semester grades were updated (around may 17). I returned on June 6 to find that they were never sent out and I had to re-order them. I re-sent them on June 7, submitted amcas on 6/8 and got the transcript receipt confirmation email on 6/10. Still waiting to be verified

I also submitted the first and processed the 8th, but I don't think this is an accurate indication of wait time, because it seems like no one got processed the first week of the month- I think they started on the 7th or 8th. And everything will change completely when the MCAT scores come out. So we'll see.

i'm sure that a bunch of us are going to submit soon after we get our april scores, does anyone know from experience if you submit after june 16th that there will be an even longer delay in processing?

The 4 to 6 weeks thing is their standard answer. I called them and the lady would not budge from saying anything other than that. They have to say that because they can't promise you a time any sooner. But in all likely hood if you send in early june you will be verified with in about 2-3 weeks it seems.

hey, thanks for the info. i was assuming that they verify people in the order they recieve transcripts, thats why i thought ppl who have them sent out a month earlier are the first to get verified and processed. that sux that some ppl who sent it out on the 2nd have already been verified, and i rushed my ass off to get it done on the first, and im still waiting. but maybe it does have to do with order of transcript arrival. i know i sound kinda stupid wanting this to be done already... im just re-applying this time, after being stuck on 4 waitlists with no call yet. i had a "counseling call" with one of the schools that rejected me pre-interview, and they told me that i made enough points for an interview, i just applied late, and they didnt get down to my name. my interviews i thought went awesome, but they were late in the season, so most spots i think were already filled. so now im freaking out, just wanting things to be early and not run the chance of rejections mostly based on timing and not having the stellar stats that get u in that late. (btw, i took the august mcat, and still took my time in sending back secondaries... so i was way later than a few weeks or anything). anyway, thanks for the info... keep me updated, i will too!

Yes, probably. AMCAS says my application has all the necessary transcripts (they were all there by mid-May) and it's just waiting in line to be reviewed. I kinda wish they had my spring 05 transcripts, because I think I did well, but I wanted to make sure there weren't any hiccups in the Matrix, so I sent my transcript in at the beginning of May.

yes, submit your transcripts before your application. they had mine in mid-may.

(granted, current grades weren't an issue for me b/c i'm not in school any longer)

June 1st was the earliest you could have got them in.. They say 4-6 weeks because at times, multiple people screw up on their AMCAS listing vs transcripts so they need to be fixed..

Plus.. as long as your AMCAS is verified and sent to med schools before mid-july.. you're still in the first round..

Hi everyone:
I plan to submit my AMCAS and AACOMAS applications by June 19th, three days after the date of receipt of the April scores. I was wondering if submitting the application this late (it's not really late, but for us SDNers it is!) is going to affect the timing of the schools reviewing them. In other words, is it likely that my app will be in the first "mid-July" batch if I submit June 19th? I imagine after the scores are released there will be a longer waiting time, but any ideas on how much longer than the current wait time will occur post-MCAT from, perhaps, previous experience? Just wondering...

Hey guys, I submitted my AMCAS on July 1 last year and was processed in about a week (transcripts already in). I got the first round of secondaries, which started coming out mid-July. My interview invite to Vandy, which invites strictly based on AMCAS, came in their second wave, but it was just a couple of weeks, if that, after the first wave. For other schools, I wasn't complete (meaning secondary submitted, any forms sent in, and LORs received) until late August because my premed office took FOR-EV-ER to get my LORs out, and I still got first- or second-wave invites.

So basically, chill. 😎 You guys are gonna be just fine. 👍

Ok, so finally AMCAS has processed my app and it says that it is now available to the schools. My first MCAT score is on my application and it sucks a$$ so I'm wondering if the schools will only see that score since the application has already been sent, or will the school also see tomorrow's score. I'm confused 😕

That's awesome, I had my transcripts in by mid May too, I just didn't hurry much on submitting my application because I figured any time before April MCAT scores came back would be about the same. Where are you applying, just USUHS or do you have some other places?

That's actually a good question, and sorry to say I don't know the answer. I do know that a lot of schools aren't even downloading applicant data yet and won't for a couple weeks.

Most schools last year didnt begin downloading AMCAS (and sending out secondaries) until the middle of July last year. Yale, Hopkins, Columbia, Wash U dont send out secondaries...they post it on their website and you can access them whenever you want starting around now (middle of June)...you just cant send them in until around the first week of July though.
