I think I might have signed up for AMCAS too early. I read a lot about how its important to apply as early as possible and in a slight combination of jumping the gun and having a desire to organize all my extracurricular activities in one place made an AMCAS account. Unfortunately, I didn't realize that applications are still on going for this cycle (or just ending now). Is this going to have any negative effect if I don't press submit? Also, will the account just stay open for the next cycle or will it be deleted. I need to know because I want to register for MCATs in January but I don't know if I can with the same account. Any help is appreciated 🙂 Thanks.

I registered and took the MCAT before ever starting an application on AMCAS, so it is possible to get the MCAT out of the way before starting the app. Also, if you were to fill anything out now on AMCAS, I believe it will be deleted for next cycle and you will have to re-enter. So look at the AMCAS application and see what fields you need to fill out, and save it, so it is just a matter of "copy and pasting" in the future 2010-2011 cycle. Opening an AMCAS account and not hitting the "submit" button will not affect your application at all for next cycle. Hope this answers what you were asking.
