Did a quick search on past threads, but they were of no help...

I want to send my AMCAS application in early June, but I also want to do a statistics class to fulfill UC Irvine medical school prerequisite. And the earliest I can finish the said course is mid-July 2009.

1. Will AMCAS just sit on my application until mid-July if I type in the name of the school where I would take the statistics class? Also, may I assume that once the AMCAS application is submitted, it cannot be updated with newer transcripts? It looks like the answer to both question is YES, but I want to double check...

2. Assuming that the answer is YES for question #1, I could finish the statistics course by June if I take an online course which I am reluctant to take. UC Irvine itself told me that even though the online course would be acceptable, they would prefer the course be from a brick-and-mortar classroom setting.

So, what do you think of the pros/cons of my choices? Is it better for me to take the late stat course and delay the AMCAS till mid-July? Or take the UCI-discouraged online course and submit everything by early June?

You can just take the stats class that finishes in mid July and submit your primary app at the beginning of June with out the grade. You just list on your AMCAS that you are planning on taking it. The grade won't go towards your calculated GPA, but you can update UC Irvine with your transcript and grade later on in the year. Its not worth delaying your app for one class that is required for one school.

Oh, that's certainly a good course of action! I did not know that you could do that with AMCAS.

So true. Thanks for the help dude!
