Hey guys,

Okay, so I messed up again 🙂. I currently have an incomplete in one of my classes because the professor has not yet come back from Israel to grade it (he should be back in a few days). I sent the transcript request to my registrar and asked them to hold for spring grades. However, they sent it with the incomplete!!! Argh. The transcript has already gone to AMCAS, so there's nothing I can do about it now. However, when I get my final grade, will I be able to send them a new transcript? Should I contact them first, or how does that work?
Please help!!!

so let me tell you my situation and you can decide if your situation is the same... 😉

It was around May 10th and I called the registrar's office to find out when exactly the spring semester grades would be in.. she told me June 27th, and I decided that I wanted to submit my AMCAS before that so I said "ok, send AMCAS my transcript without spring semester grades on it." so she did.

Later, I find out that June 27th is a ridiculous deadline that NO professors wait for and most get theres in like 2 days after finals, which was like May 10-15th for us, so by May 20th I see my grades online and get pissed off. I call AMCAS and I say "ok, I got the receipt notice and everything that I want for that school, but I want the transcript thrown away so I can send you an update"

They told me that they wont destroy any transcript we send them but if you send them multiple from the same school BEFORE YOU ACTUALLY SUBMIT YOUR AMCAS APPLICATION, they will use the most recent transcript sent. I had the person on the phone confirm this with their manager just to make absolutely sure, cuz it sounded a bit fishy that they wouldnt destroy the old transcript, but i got the same answer.

My advice is in the morning tomorrow, give AMCAS a call and describe your situation and confirm what I said holds for you as well... then simply have the registrar send another one. Also, for some reason, the second transcript I sent was received and I got a receipt for it approximately 4 days after mailing it from the registrar's office, when the first time I sent it it took around 2 weeks to get a reply. Maybe the second time around youre put on a higher priority list for entry? I dunno.

Thanks Cantal, that does sound pretty similar....

What is the number for AMCAS? I keep looking for it, but I can't find it anywhere.

Thanks 🙂

Obviously make sure you don't submit till AMCAS receives the new transcript.

They will verify the grades and you will be fine.

Hmmm.... wish I'd known that before I submitted. I sent them a transcript w/o Spring grades in early May. I got a confirmation a week later. In late May, I sent another transcript with Spring grades. I got a confirmation yesterday. The thing is, I submitted Monday night. So I guess they got my new transcript after I submitted. Now they've reclassified my Spring classes as current/future. Bummer. What should I do now?

Sooner,

I was reading the AMCAS website, and I think that once they verify your transcript, you can choose to update your classes/grades. Check out this link:
http://www.aamc.org/students/amcas/faq/changing.htm

(look under the heading Other Changes

Good luck to all three of us!

It says "to address changes made by AMCAS" not by you.

You are not supposed to update any grades after submitting.

But hopefully a phone call or an email to AMCAS should take care of it!

oh, good point! Hmm, i don't know then...
