I know that Canadians can go to vet school in Australia, but is that option available for American students as well? And, for clarification, you need a BA or BS to apply for Australian programs, correct?

Yes, Americans can attend vet school in Australia.....it doesn't matter which country you are from so long as you meet the requirements. Below are the links for the 3 schools in Australia that are AVMA accredited. I would recommend reading up on their requirements if you're interested in applying. I don't think all of the schools require a degree (Melbourne definitely does though).

There are lots of folks on here that are attending school in Europe.....

Other than that, not really. The foreign vets threads would have a greater variety (Veterinary forum).
