No, you do NOT. Know that glycine is the only achiral amino acid, methionine is the first one incorporated into a protein during translation, cysteine can form disulfide bonds (3* and 4* structure levels)
Know that the basic amino acids are histidine, arginine, lysine (they have an NH3+ group in their side chains)
Know that the COOH group on the peptide backbone has a pKa of ~2-4 so at physiological pH (7.4) it is deprotonated
Know that the NH3 group has a pKa of 9-11 so at pH 7.4 it is protonated (NH3+), forming a zwitterion (+ and - charge but sums to neutral)
Some of those things probably don't need to be memorized but it's good to be comfortable with them. In fact, passages will likely give you most of the pKa stuff you need and even the side chain structures if they're going to be asking you about basic amino acids or being charged/uncharged at a certain pH.
