This article popped up on my FB feed. An atheist student (named Hitchens of all things!) at CUSOM shares her perspective on adjusting to both a new region and a new culture while she finds that she and her theist classmates share at least one common goal; to become excellent doctors.

I imagine that was challenging having not really been so thoroughly embedded in religious culture before. Even as someone who lives within a stones through of at least ten churches, I'm not sure how much I could tolerate going to a christian school. But I'm glad to see she's adjusting.

Very interesting, as much inspirational. Attending the interview, you would never know they are a Christian based community. And that's from someone who knew going in, because I read their mission statement.

2 thoughts that stand out:
1. It's nice that CUSOM doesn't push religion on their students
2. I like how the Dean handled the conversation about Christianity, again not forcing his beliefs or taking offense, but actually offering a very broad perspective which she obviously took in stride

Catholic schools are mostly non-dogmatic, e.g. only 50 percent of faculty at Notre Dame University are Catholic.
