An Away at Columbia in IM - Worth It?

Would it be worth it to do an away rotation in internal medicine at Columbia? In other words, would it help my chances of matching there at all? A little about me:

Grades: 25th percentile from top 25 school
Step 1: mid-230s
Step 2 CK: strongly anticipating 260+
Research Interests: fairly unique, including basic science research, and involvement in medical education
LORs: should be quite strong

Thank you for any insight anyone can offer.

i think you may have a shot at getting an interview outright. might want to ask in the WAMC thread.

if you did not have a shot at all, it definitely wouldn't hurt your chances to do an away. if you do well, you may get an interview. if you don't do well, you don't get an interview you would never have gotten anyway.
