Analytical Writing Section

I apologize in advance if this is a question previously posted on this forum, but how important is the analytical writing section? In other words, what weight does an analytical score have in the admission decision to a clinical psychology PhD program? I did fairly well on the quantitative and verbal sections (600V & 700Q), does this make up for a subpar performance on the analytical writing section (a 3.5 or 4)? Or does a distinguished statement of purpose make up for a weak analytical score? Any information about this would be greatly appreciated.

I would also like to mention that I investigated previous postings about the analytical section and there seemed to be mixed reviews. Any ideas? Like the rest of you, I would HATE to take the GRE again....

AFAIK the writing section doesn't hold much weight in admissions.

No one cares about the writing section.

I've heard that if you do well on it that's good but doesn't really help you that much. However, if you do poorly it does make some programs wonder why, but it probably wouldn't be enough to not give you an interview.

They won't look at the AW score... It doesn't matter.
