hey everyone!

I took anatomy my senior year of high school 2008-2009. I remember some of it - but we did not have very interactive labs and of it was high school at that point I only kind of knew what I wanted to do with my life - and well didn't pay tooo much attention to detail in that class 😛
My college right now only accepted that class as Anatomy so I still have to take a separate physiology class and lab...which i know both classes are really important!

My question is do you think i should retake anatomy again? or will the physiology class be enough to get me through and I should be okay? Should i just look over my notes again and refresh myself.

Thanks so much!!

I would take anatomy again. Some grad schools require that you take anatomy at a 4-year university. Though I'm not sure how exactly every school will view it if your school has some program where it transfers from high school. I'm pretty sure not all grad schools will accept that.
Also, do not expect high-school anatomy to be at all on the same level as college anatomy. At most reputable schools, it is much harder.

I would definitely re-take anatomy. Anatomy at the high school level vs college level will be extremely different (much like anatomy at the undergrad and PT/graduate level is.. My undergrad anatomy prof used to tell me I'd be crying to be back in his class and I thought he was nuts; now looking back on it, it's so true!)

Plus, like another response said, it's highly doubtful that schools will accept a transferred class... I know a lot of friends who aren't even in PT, who had a ton of trouble with their AP classes they had taken in high school; it sounded like a great idea to get the credit, but then they ended up being short credits for graduation and it was a huge pain; not to mention when they applied to other grad schools, most admissions committees don't seem to care if you took a course in hs they want to see a grade on your college transcripts.

So, to make a long story short, you may think that the credit you are receiving for it is a shortcut, but it has the potential to make your life way more difficult- so just retake the course. Plus, hopefully it will stick more this time and you can decide if you're really interested in all this "body stuff" 😉

Thanks guys!! I never even thought of how different it would be from high school to 4 year university. Especially if it only transferred to the local 2 year college. I am sure it will be difficult but hopefully some of it comes back to me so I wont be dying that semester!! haha

I'm currently taking anatomy with lab, and it's very intensive! I'm amazed at how much we're learning, but it's also very stressful. Last night I was in the lab for 3.5 hours using a long pine needle to learn and identify over 50 bones/bony landmarks of the skull.
