How common is it that you see anesthesia attendings practicing palliative care medicine as well (and I mean pure palliative care, not as a component of working in an ICU)

I'm a first year (anesthesia) resident who's considering this career path, and was wondering how transferable our skills would be to palliative care medicine, how much additional training is typically required, and what the compensation is like compared to OR anesthesia practice....

great question. i am a MS4, interested in anesthesia, icu and palliative care. i don't really like the interventional pain aspect of palliative care, i'm more interested in end of life care both in the ICU and hospice, etc. I do know that Columbia's palliative care fellowship is run by anesthesia, you might look there for more info. Out of curiosity, what is it about palliative care that you are interested in? I feel like I get weird looks from people when I tell them am doing a residency in anesthesia but also want to take care of hospice patients...maybe I should have done IM...
