hi everyone,

my mom just had two of her wisdom teeth pulled out yesterday. Now it's been about ~30 hours since the procedure but she says her chin & cheek area still feels numb. mom said the procedure seemed pretty touch cuz the dentist had to really work to get those deep teeth out. maybe the dentist administered extra dosage of anesthesia just to be safe?

is this normal? how long does it usually last for wisdom tooth extraction? i thought most anesthesia last for only about 2~6 hours max.

if it doesn't go back to normal by tomorrow, i'm gonna call the dentist & see what's up.

thanks everyone !!

SDN is not a place to ask about medical/dental advice.

I think it's a valid clinical question. The nerve is probably nicked and she may or may not have permanent numbness, which was clearly stated in the consent form she signed before the extraction. Call the dentist for reassurance anyhow.

It's a perfectly valid clinical question, but as Millisevert mentioned, SDN isn't the place to ask it. 🙂 To the OP: your mother should contact the dentist who treated her to ask any questions she has.
