In terms of hours, income, job satisfaction/wlb how does anesthesia compare with IM subspecialties like cards/GI/onc/allergy, etc? 4 year vs 6 year training path is definitely a component for consideration.

this is an impossible comparison to make.
Right? You have cardiology or GI with inpatient service, call and procedures vs allergy that has some jobs 3 days a week 9-3.

Also if this is how you're choosing your specialty then yikes.

Edit: same poster wants to know which IM specialty has the highest potential for income generation and entrepreneurship. What a joke.

GI... because it's a cash cow. You can make anywhere form 800k-1.2M these days.

yeah it makes sense that the minimum salary is 800k since compensation surverys shows the mean to be 550....
I did not say the minimum. But I should have said "potential" to make 800k-1.2M. In all honesty, I also don't put too much trust on these surveys

There's nothing wrong with looking at income, hours, and satisfaction for choosing a specialty.

Agree. However the question was more like asking a tiger “Which is better pears or radishes?”
It is a very strange question. I can’t even find any way make up a troll answer to the OP’s question.
