A South Florida doctor charged with a hate crime after a 2021 assault of a Hispanic man outside a supermarket will avoid prison as part of a plea deal.

The trial of Dr. Jennifer Wright, an anesthesiologist at Mount Sinai Medical Center, was scheduled to begin Monday in a Miami-Dade courtroom.

But Wright took a plea deal and admitted she was guilty for battery and criminal mischief, more than two years after the incident.

Under the terms of the deal, Wright was sentenced to one year of probation and will have to participate in racial sensitivity and anger management training.

Sales tax is never really a concern for doctors. Most of our $ goes to mortgage/debt/college/services. Even a 20% sales tax wouldn’t cost average anesthesiologist 20k, but plenty of anesthesiologists paying 50-60k a year in income tax. Aside from buying a car I’ve never even noticed sales tax.

Property taxes isn’t bad in Florida especially with homestead in my area. It does vary by counties.

My property is worth 2 mil on low end to 2.2 million (the tax rate the property is based reported on is 1.2 mil for tax purposes ) is $13500. Small discount is paid within the first 3 months of the bill. So $12700.

Of course some counties are higher

So expect to pay anywhere between 0.7%-1.6% of real property tax value. Which is still cheaper than say New York New Jersey Texas etc.

Sales taxes js 6-7% depending on county sales taxes.
