Exactly what animals do you learn about when you go to vet school? I know you learn about many different animals but I haven't gotten an answer on exactly what you learn about? Thanks for your help.

That question is a lot like "What diseases do you learn about" in med school?

The above answer is true but the vast majority of your time will be spent learning about dogs, cats, horses, cows, small ruminants (sheep/goat) and camelids. Exotics (rodents, reptiles, birds, etc) you will likely get some info on but it is not a main focus. Wildlife/aquatic same deal. This will also vary depending on whether your school tracks or not. If not you will get a much briefer look into the 'other' species. If you are at a school that you can track in exotics/wildlife you would clearly get much more time on those topics. either way a lot of the stuff you learn in the main species can be carried over and applied to others (a lot of what is this closest to that I know a lot about thinking).

Agreed. Cats, dogs, horses, cattle, pigs, sheep and goats are the big ones. Those are usually covered extensively, even moreso in your specific area if you are at a tracking school. We not only cover disease and conditions (innumerable) but things like species-specific physiology,husbandry/management, reproduction, microscopic and molecular medicine in some cases, etc.

Then comes pocket pets (rats, mice, ferrets, guinea pigs) and wildlife and aquatics, camelids, exotics like birds and reptiles, also covered but in not so much detail.

But I agree with NoImagination's quote. The list and variation is extreme. It can feel like going to medical school for ten different species.
