Identify oxidizing agent and the element reduced in the foll. rxn:

Sn(s) + HNO3(aq) ----> Sn(NO3)2(aq) + NO(g) + H2O(l)

I thought, N is reduced from +5 (HNO3) to +2 (Sn(NO3)2) so it is reduced and Sn is the oxidizin agent ??? but the answer is, Oxidizing agent: HNO3 and element reduced is N.

What m I missing here??? someone plzzz explain me...
thanx...

Whatever agent on the left hand side that gets reduced causes something else to become oxidized, making the agent that was reduced the oxidizing agent. Therefore, HNO3 is the oxidizing agent because the element N was reduced.
