Hello,
I just starting using this site and got so much helpful advice for my last post and I was wondering if you guys could help me out with another problem...I'm currently deciding my undergraduate college and one of my top choices is RIT ( Rochester Institute of Technology). It's definitely not as expensive as the other schools and I've heard a lot of good things about it. The only thing is even though it has a biomedical sciences program, it still is a technology school and I was worried that I'm not gonna get the pre med advising and opportunities for research and ECS as other schools..I aspire to go to a good medical school so this is really important to me. Did anyone on here go to Medical school from RiT and where did you get into?

What are the other options you're considering vs RIT, and what are the cost differences?

I know nothing of RIT. But as a current senior about to apply, I would heavily consider what will be easier for your GPA. If you really want to do medicine it doesn't pay to do an intense major like BME if you can't do well in it. I've had too many friends hopes dashed by going that route and ending up with a 3.0 arguably because they took a major they weren't particularly good at.

Another consideration is location. I transferred from my huge middle of nowhere state school to a large biomedical city because I knew there would be more opportunities here for a pre med (among other reasons). The result is I've been a professional EMT and do research at a world-class teaching hospital. I'm not saying these opportunities arent available elsewhere but I think they're much more competitive at large rural schools. It's practically a shoe in some places.

My 2¢

@Welshman makes some valid points, however, I know several RIT students who got their research experiences at the U of R Medical Campus or even with U of R professors on the campus. The disadv to RIT students are that you wouldn't get first priority compared to U of R students and that the 2 mile commute may be annoying at times (given rochester is the second snowiest city in the nation.)

@Ehwic it's my username cuz I really like the meaning of their motto (ever better)

I'm considering RIT or Loyola Chicago vs Emory or BU...I know the latter two are much more prestigious but it'll be much easier and cheaper for me and my family for me to go to RIT or Loyola

My experience lies in Florida and the northeast so I'm hesitant to advise too heavily outside of that. Chicago is a fine city though

A major dilemma is getting rejected on your third cycle, or failing out of med school. You are way to early in your journey to be freaking out like this all the time. Like I said in your other post, simmer down.

I thought something serious was happening. Well I've learned my lesson.

I'm not opening another "adjective dilemma" thread ever again.

lol I'm sorry for the thread name but thanks for the advice everyone!
