another military specialization question

i know that it's virtually impossible for HPSPers to get selected for ortho or endo fresh out of dental school. what about other specialty programs such as oral surgery and pedo, say, you had 95+ on part one, ranked top 5 from your class?

Oral surgery would be a possibility with those scores in the military straight out of dental school. Military oral surgeons are in high demand and they will have you for the long haul - one reason why a lot of people don't do it. Pedo on the other hand doesn't seem possible straight out. There just isn't as much of a demand and a lot of times a general dentist can perform the work of a pedodontist.

I've also heard the same thing about oral surgery. But most likely you'll be sent to AEGD before any specialty.
