is it okay to apply to a medicine prelim program at a program that you are applying for their categorical neurology program? I know it's allowed, but does it look bad?

secondly, for those programs that are advanced but have special prelim programs for their neuro students. is that also okay to apply for the general prelim program in case you decide not to go there for the neuro training but would like to train there during the intern year?

LASTLY, how bad is it that i only have one letter from a neurology. the other one is from my medicine site director and an ob/gyn. because the way the schedule is set up there is no way i can get another neuro letter before applications. fwiw, people who have read my letters have said they are the best letters they have ever seen

1. Sure, they know you're applying to more than just their program
2. Sure, see #1. I ended up doing just that.
3. Nothing you can do about it, so don't worry about it. Certainly not the end of the world.
