and been accepted to dental school?

hi everyone.. well, my GPA is a 3.36/3.32 sci and I thought I did a little better on my DAT but I got a 19/19/16.. I know most tx schools don't care too much about PAT but I still think my AA is low.. and my GPA isn't that great..because I've pretty much worked every since I was in high school and have lots of financial problems that took up most of my time away from fully being involved in school... but I improved my last semester by making a 4.0... I have volunteer experience and some dental shadowing/assisting experience.. I have already re-registered to retake the DAT but since I just took it this month I won't be able to retake it till November.. I contacted the tx schools and they said I should retake it if I wished to and if I feel like I would do better, because I have till December 1st.. but I've been stressing.. I know I really wanna do dental.. it just sucks that I wasn't prepared enough when I took my DAT and now I have to study hardier and retake it... any advice if you're in dental school in tx or know of any acceptances? thanks a bunch..

Elaborate to us on your volunteer work and shadowing experience. How many hours and what you did. Your dat and GPA should allow you to get yourself an interview. After that its really how well you shine.

I went to UTHSCSA with similar scores.

Just one important note...you don't have until December 1st. The deadline for Texas schools is November 1st.

As for your situation...there are people who have gotten into schools with those stats. If you feel that you have a very strong application and have more to offer a school and dentistry than somebody with JUST perfect scroes (i.e. no volunteering, research, work experience, found the cure for cancer, etc.) then you may be okay.

My personal opinion is that scores just get you in the door for an interview, and the rest is up to you. Just remember that schools are getting more and more competitive with scores, but they are also looking for somebody who is more well-rounded than a simple stellar student.
