posted something like this before... only for practicing OS please.
for those of you kinda fried doing private practice, whats the reason? Hours? Type of patients/insurance? Physical ailments? Regrets? Desire to switch fields, change jobs? location?
Don't have much contact with any OS in my neck of the woods (practice in southeast). kinda lone wolfin it. so wanted to hear some other OS people out there.
my story - Started out working as an associate with a more experienced full scope guy. had the opportunity to do trauma, tmj, lotta path. However, got screwed in terms of pay, call, etc. Decided to venture on my own after one yr. Shared space with another specialist while supplementing with corporate gig (yes, it sucked but money was ok). Expenses were killing me and with the influx of tons of different corporate dentistry places, couldn't compete in the marketplace. Decided to fire sale, then took on another corporate gig supplementing it with working in some small practices spread out across three counties. So I currently travel quite a bit and do a heck of a lot of dentoalveolar. Far cry from where/what I did in a 6 yr residency (lots of malignant path, pediatric surgery, ton of ICU time, good amount of complex trauma etc)
