Sorry for yet another thread like this, but would like some insight from you guys.
I'll make it short. Credit hour wise I'm a junior but just recently made the decision to pursue dentistry. My overall gpa is 2.3(lots of lazy, lots of C's)
Pre req grades are
Gen chem 1: D retake C
Cell and molec bio: D retake C
Gen chem 2: D retake A
These are the only pre reqs I've taken and still have all my upper levels. If I can make only majority A's and few B's from here on out until the completion of my degree and pre reqs, do I have any realistic chance of an acceptance anywhere?

If you're already a junior, you're probably going to need to do a post-bachelor or take an insane amount of credits per semester while doing very well in those courses in order to raise your gpa enough to even have a realistic chance. It's possible, but it looks to be very difficult to dig yourself out of this hole. I've seen people get their act together by sophomore year, but halfway through junior year is kind of late. Do you have a realistic chance of acceptance this next cycle? No. Do you have a realistic chance of acceptance in future cycles? Yes, but it'll take a lot of work and it's still iffy. There is a path, but it's probably too late. Good luck with whatever decision you decide to make.

Ok. Some people might beat around the bush when giving you advice, but I don't do well with sugarcoating things. So here's my brutal honesty

You've dug yourself into a deep hole, and at this point it seems pretty impossible for you to climb up. It's possible, yes, but you need to revamp basically your entire way of life to be able to pull a complete 180 and get your stats up to the point where they can be barely passable.

I don't know how much a post-bacc would help..you've already taken too many credits and did poorly in most of them, so taking more undergrad courses won't increase your gpa that much. A Special Masters program might help, but your undergrad GPA is far too low for most schools to take your application seriously.

My advice is: think carefully, is dentistry what you are really passionate about? If yes, then you have a long, hard road ahead of you that requires a lot of hard work and discipline. If you're not up for that challenge, it would be best to find a different career path right now before you waste any more time with dentistry

I agree with dr.d00m. Dental school is much more difficult than undergrad for most so the faculty need to see that you are capable. Retaking a class means you have seen the material before, so you should easily do better the second time through. Doing marginally better isn't saying much.
