Hi neuro people!

Another what if/chance-type of question, i'm sorry. I just sent in my applications (and feel like popping a xanax every time I open up ADTS). I'm applying broadly (~42 programs, all low to mid competitiveness)...I'm a U.S. Senior, but have a below 200 step 1 score and did poorly on my shelf exams. I'm finally out of the woods on some personal things that kept those scores low. I'm taking step 2 ck and was supposed to take it early, but decided, screw it, i'm going to learn the material and actually feel confident rather than stressed and rushed to the end. So I'm taking it mid-october and schools should get it by mid-november.

I've called a few neuro programs and they said that's fine, they want step 2 before rank lists. But I guess now I'm a little concerned how many I'll get rejected from before my step 2 even comes in. How many interviews I won't get because of it. I just don't want this test to haunt me like step 1 is right now. And, if I have to go through SOAP, then at least I have a good step 2 on hand. I'm also hoping beyond hope that they'll take a look at my two neurology LOR's because i'm pretty sure those are super strong.

But in any case, late step 2 with poor step 1 for neurology, really bad plan?

I know this may have been written a 100 times before, I just suck with searching and after a couple of hours without an adequate response, decided to post on here.

Thanks everyone!

I think mid October is just fine.

Try to do sometime in neurology as much as your med school allows, show more interest in Neurology. Your school residency program is your best shot. Next, are the programs in the city you live.
People need to know you and your personality!
