Anyone else waiting to hear if they got an interview? If so, when were you complete? Being way to impatient on this, but I look forward to possibly going to this school.
 
I got an email on Oct. 18th saying I was complete then 5 days later I got another one saying I wasn't becos of my August MCAT scores not being there. Finally I got a third email on Oct 30 saying I am now complete. Now just waiting to get an interview invite (hopefully in the next few days) becos that 30 day deadline is slowly but surely trickling by.............

when were u complete?
 
I was also complete Oct 30th so apparently no need to worry yet. I decided to give them a call and the lady was nice and said that the file is still under review and they were hoping to send out a bunch of interviews before thanksgiving.

got the pre-interview rejection today. kinda hurts but oh well. The way I see it thats not where God wants me.
 
Sorry to hear about the rejection. Hmm thats weird because we were complete on the same day and I haven't heard anything. Can people that hear back update this list and let us know when you were complete????
 
For those of you waiting, it took me about 3 weeks to get an invite. I got invited at the end of October, so it is possible that if 3 weeks haven't passed yet, dont worry. Or since there may be more apps now, it'll take longer. Nothing you can do now but sit back and relax.

Just called them (Complete 10/31) and was told I was denied an interview. This school was in my top 3 and it really hurts me. But things could be worse. I also got a rejection from WVSOM today too. Well at least I got an interview from DCOM, I just hope that goes well. Good luck to the rest of you guys!

I just called them, was complete 10/31 and they told me that they are still reviewing and expect to hear back from them in a week to 10 days. Hope that helps. Remember they said in the email that they will take up to 30 days to reply, so they still have some time, waiting sucks !!
 
not exactly sure when i was complete, but found out about the interview today.

I'm sorry to here that. But on the bright side of things DCOM looks like it will be a great school
 
I withdrew from my interview/application at DMU today...hopefully that'll free up at interview spots for you guys. My interview was supposed to be 12/1. Good luck all!

I didn't get my interview invite until December 5th, last year. Stick in there.
 
I just got one today fast track, I'm pulling for all of you still around, stick in there it will come!!!!
 
Good luck to all of you! I hope you get the interview. I was one of the fortunate ones that interviewed last week and I have to say it was amazing. I was so impressed! They had some of the best facilities I have ever seen (MD and DO), and not to mention the friendly students. I hope you guys get it soon! 🙂

I interviewed with you that day. I agree, the facilities were really nice. I thought the 2nd year surg prep room was really cool. The whole atmosphere at that school is good...and the city wasn't bad either!

I just got my file complete yesterday! Time to play the waiting game myself.
 
To my surprise, I got a rejection today. I thought everyone got an auto-interview at DMU if they were at a certain GPA and MCAT. I'm pretty shocked...

I am just wondering but were your gpa and mcats...and DMU requires that you must have some clinical experience...so if you didnt have that they will automatically reject you...Good luck on the rest of the process
 
Does clinical experience include volunteer work in the hospital or would it be a paid position?
 
Any sort of clinical experience will do. EMT, physician shadow, lab rat, vampire, work at a free clinic, etc.... It's not too late to get involved if you think that your ECs are a bit on the light side here. Good luck!

3.5, 26, and I volunteered a semester, shadowed two physicians, one was for a break but the other I shadow almost weekly. I also have been doing research for almost a year now as well. I know my MCAT is week and my GPA isnt the greatest, but still a little surprised hehe.
 
congrats to those who got the good news! I just got back from an amazing snowboarding weekend to find a letter from DMU. I was optimisitic because i know they communicated via e-mail... they didn't want to give me an invterview 🙁. This was my number one school, so it is a bit dissapointing and i'm sure the dissapointment will sink in more later but i think i'll be very happy with KCUMB. sigh* Did anyone else get snailmail contact from DMU??? MAYBE it's an imposter who made the stationary up just to get me going... maybe? 😀 Good luck to the rest of you still waiting! (complete October 30).

When you found out about the rejection, did they send an email and letter or just a letter?? I feel like I must be in limbo...anyone else that was complete on late october still waiting?

wow...those stats are not that bad at all...i had fairly close numbers (28, 3.66) and I got the auto invite and eventual acceptance...my guess would be that it is getting more later in the game and I guess the competition is either tough or there is more of them so there are less spots and less invites to go around...sorry you didnt get it but you should be able to get in somewhere else...good luck👍
 
The 30 day timeframe they talked about in the email telling me I'm complete ran out over the weekend... Do we know if they're running behind or did they likely send me a letter telling me they don't want to interview me but I just haven't gotten it yet? I'm not sure how I feel about the midwest (raised in SC, live in NJ, school in SC) but I've heard nothing but great things about the school and I was hoping to see for myself. My GPA/MCAT are close to silverpaw's (3.54, 27) with more volunteering and less shadowing... 🙁
 
Seriously, what does it take to get in interview invite from DMU? I've been in contact with the staff, even attended a DMU discovery day in Seattle last month, my DO letter writer is a DMU grad and said that he highly recommended me to the program, and my stats are above their averages (3.7, 32).

Is the competition just really stiff this year (like stiffer than a lot of MD programs), or is DMU running behind?

Wow, your stats are truly higher than average, but is there something about your application that would jump out as a red flag (withdrawls, etc). Or even completion of your app. HAve you made sure all the required components are in? Just give them some time & wish for the best. Assuming all is in & you get the invite, at least the bright side is that it takes them less than 14 days after the interview to let you know their final decision. Good luck!!!

Thanks for the encouragement! I don't have any red flags, but I wasn't complete until the August MCAT, so that my be holding back my application. There is only so much interest that you can show in a school without the feeling being mutual. I guess we'll just have to see when/if I get an interview.👍

Yeah, I think I was complete like mid-late October. I dont know why I didnt apply earlier because their secondary was so easy. My mistake and fault.

You go to UIC? I go to UIUC. I think I'll be retaking the MCAT and my GPA should go up after my senior year. I might get my first 4.0 semester 🙂

This year...yes.

I said it before, this year will be the most competative year they have ever had and it will only continue to increase. But don't get discouraged. Just have to play the waiting game.

Not sure if they are backed up or not but with the holiday, they could be behind a little. Keep your head up, it will all work out! 👍

yeah i do go to UIC (hmm...how u figured that out I dont know...😕 ) but retaking it wont hurt you if you dont get in during this cycle...and come to think of it DMU did have the easiest secondary...i forgot how all you had to do was write you name and number, click submit, and boom...fifty dollars...but for me it was definitely worth it...once again good luck on everything👍
 
Thanks cat lover 🙂 I thought i had a real shot, but this just makes me super thankful for the KCUMB acceptance (that i will take). SLC= salt lake city? 🙂 i'm from flagstaff, AZ and we drove up to wolf creek (near pagosa springs, CO). There's got to be some sort of slopes in Iowa? I have a friend in Iowa City who went snowboarding last winter.

And to MJB, i didn't get an e-mail (which i expected) just the (hand signed)letter... this could be because i had turned in a primary last year and so technically was a reap...(?)

Has anyone heard about an interview this week? If so, when were you complete? Seems like it has been really quiet.
 
Its been a month today since i have been complete and i hadn't heard back from them, so i called and they said they have been extremely busy so their admissions committee is taking longer than usual. Hope that helps

They called me on Tuesday to let me know that I have an interview. The dates that they have open now are in mid January. Good luck
