Or something close? I would like to do a month rotation where I can experience as much of OB and GYN as I can, to get an idea if its the career I want to go for. Preferably something on the east coast, but anywhere will work. Thanks.

So after further researching and speaking with people, it seems that doing an MFM elective with opportunity to do as much L & D as possible seems to be the best way to expose myself to the "meat" of OBGYN. Any thoughts?

I would do a rotation c a physician that works in a residency hospital that way you'll be doing gyn and OB. Most residency programs have oncology, urogyn, gyn or OB rotations. Another thing is do one of these rotations and ask that when the team is on call if you can do call c then as well. Call is basically mostly OB at night or weekends. As far as East Coast where? I know several places in MD.

What is your goal for the rotation? Exposure to the program and to see how OB and GYN function, or to secure LOR? If its the latter, then stick to one specialty (i.e. MFM) as that will afford you the maximum time and interaction with 1-2 faculty members and allow for nice LORs. If its the exposure, then ask for a hybrid rotation when speaking with the coordinator. Most programs will allow you to do 50/50. As a word of caution, avoid July/Aug as new interns are hitting the floor, new chiefs are taking charge, and you may get lost in the shuffle.

Best of luck!
