any acceptance letter from schools starting FALL 2014?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Hey BeccaLA. I plan on attending WashU's OTD too! I have yet to visit the campus though (long way from California).
I also plan on
Congrats on your acceptance! I've decided that I'm attending Nova. I agree that WashU has a great program, but it is costly. I was happy with my experience at Nova, and feel it is a good fit for me.
Congrats on your other acceptance🙂 i'm glad you found somewhere with a better fit and price tag lol. I am also not attending Wash U. There tuition is too high when I have other equally good options I have been accepted to Texas Tech and received a scholarship that gives me in state tuition, so as of now I will be attending Texas Tech.

I got accepted to Texas Tech (interviewed 11/16, accepted 11/21)
and interviewed at UTMB on 11/22 (yesterday!)

I was SUPER impressed with the program at Texas Tech.

I also got into WashU's OTD program (postmarked letter on 10/31). My interactions with them so far via phone and email have made me very impressed with the program. I am looking forward to visiting, but they are going to have to sell it to me. Literally! So expensive!

Hey guys, I went to TJU's open house today. I found out for sure that student emails were sent to every applicant and that admissions decisions for the most part will begin going out in January, though there may be a few sent next week and in the beginning of December. Good luck everyone! 🙂

Did you go to the school for your interview?

Awesome! I live in Seattle, WA so it's a long way for me as well 🙂 Road trip?! haha.

It's either going to be a road trip or the cheapest airfare I can find ^_^ . At the moment I am not sure if I should asap or closer to the start of classes. But I do hope, after paying the deposit, we get some more information in the mail soon. It feels strange to me to get an acceptance without a giant information packet like those that came with undergrad acceptances.

Congratulations runnerchic13 on finding a better fit for you than WashU, I'm sure you will have a great experience at Nova!

Congratulations to you as well otstudent 1993! I am also certain you will have a great time at Texas Tech.

It seems a bit strange to me as well. They also said in the letter I received that I have been accepted into the OTD program but then they sent me an 'intent to enroll' form for the MSOT program?! Confusing. Which did you apply for? I'm not sure when the best time to visit is either. I'm thinking maybe late January or early February. I'll be moving to Northern Ireland for a few months in April and so will definitely be going before then 🙂

i was asked to interview for Salus U on October 9, my OTCAS was verified September 20. Idk if that helps you guys.

Hey otstudent1993! Would you mind telling me what the interview process was like for Salus? I just got one for mid-december, and they said it'll be 5 hours long! None of the other schools I've applied to do interviews, so I just want to be sure to be as prepared as possible. 🙂 Thanks!!

I actually didn't go because I got accepted into another program. Sorry;/, but good luck🙂

I went to the Salus interview, and it took just about the whole 5 hours. The school is not accredited yet; makes me worried... The school was very small; there was only 1 building and a small building behind, that is where the gym is at. They don't do a practicum/6 month fieldwork like most schools do, that makes me worried cause I've heard that the practicum is where many students learned the most and it made them confident going into their NBCOT test. They have you take a capstone class, which is like a research project/presentation. I'm super worried about how the test scores will compare to other schools. a couple of the students i talked to said they did not feel prepared to take the test...

I received an acceptance letter from D' Youville College and Misericordia University around mid November.

Hi LaxgirlluvsOT,

I have my interview with Salus on December 12th. I am starting to prepare for the interview and would just like to know what type of things you brought with you.. such as a resume, etc. Did they do most of the asking questions or did they allow you to ask questions of your own about the program?

Thanks for the insight! Could you please share what questions they asked you during the interview? Thanks so much!

Hi! What were your stats?? I am currently waiting on my letter of acceptance or decline from D'youville College. My stats were cumulative GPA 3.03, Pre req GPA 3.7, 100 hours of inpatient/outpatient OT Observation Hours, 30 hours of internship at CSU Chico Autism Clinic

They ask basic questions, like why OT, Why here, Fav class in undergrad, how you'd deal with stress. No one in my group brought resumes. You have time to ask questions at the end.

Its individual interviews, but you wait with a group to be called in for the interview.

Oh okay... Great. Thank you! How long were the interviews around? And was it with a group of people asking you questions?

I also got an acceptance that day and an very conflicted because of the price! Have you visited? I plan to within the next couples months to see what it's like. I have been talking with different OTs and PTs about what they think about the price they do not think it would be worth it? So I also need to be sold! Are you from the St. Louis area?

I also plan on

I see that you were both accepted to Wash U and declined their offer. I also was accepted, I have not visited yet and plan to, but am also very worried about the cost. I have not heard back from other programs yet and it will make a huge difference depending on my options but why did you decide not to attend? Was it mostly cost? Did you receive any scholarships or ask for any additional aid? It is very hard to turn down such a great school, but from what I have been hearing a degree if a degree when it comes to getting a OT job.

I have received word from Indiana State University and Washington University in St. louis. I have decided to decline Indiana State and am fairly certain I'll be attending Washington's OTD in fall.

I also have been accepted to Wash U but am unsure if I will go there because of the cost. Have you received any scholarships or asked for any? I hear that private universities like Wash U have a lot of aid to offer and that would hopefully help greatly with the decision to attend.

In my initial acceptance notification I was informed I had been granted a merit scholarship. The scholarship did make a dent, buy not nearly as much as I'd like. I am planning on contacting the financial aid office soon. I know many health professionals in various fields, and I have been told that they would respect an OTD from WashU more than a less known school. So while in OT a degree may be a degree, individuals in other health fields you may be working with may view your input differently depending on where you went. (This mindset will probably fade as you prove your competancy in a particular institution).

I got accepted to Washington University St. Louis, but I haven't heard back from any other schools! I'm anxiously waiting!
When did you send in your application and when did you get a letter? I just sent mine and was wondering time frame... Or anyone that was accepted in to Wash U.

I submitted my verified OTCAS in late November and haven't heard a peep! Not even anything saying my application was received or under review 🙁

I applied to Wash U on a whim in part because I saw so many posts about people receiving acceptances early on. Ah well...

My acceptance from WashU was mailed and postmarked on 10/31 as well. My OTCAS was verified on Sep. 9th. I didn't hear anything from them until the acceptance letter showed up

Thank you. I did not apply till the end of Nov. I should have earlier. I had no idea Ohio State and some schools had such early deadlines. I'll just keep waiting till end of March. :nailbiting:

Texas Tech MOT:
1. Last year they had a 100% NBCOT pass rate, I believe one of their faculty members is a question-writer for the NBCOT people.
2. The students were intelligent, friendly, and I could see myself enjoying studying with them! This is versus other OT programs I've visited, where the students seemed almost 'uppity' or forced.
3. I've heard from former students that the faculty is incredibly supportive of their OT students... definitely a plus

Those are just things I liked about the program!

received a voicemail from Usciences today about acceptance! will receive acceptance package next week!

I found out yesterday I was accepted into Brenau!🙂 I have an interview at Florida Gulf Coast in a couple weeks and I'm still waiting to hear back from Nova, MUSC, Towson, and Adventist University of Health Sciences

Are you accepting to Brenau and then still going on other interviews? I too was accepted to a program and also have other interviews! I don't want to loose my spot, but I still have other interviews...

I am in the same position. I really like Brenau but I still want to interview at the other schools I applied to. I think I'm going to accept and continue to interview which will give me a little longer till I have to make a final decision.

Hey! Congrats 🙂 What cohort at Brenau did you get acceptance to?

Hi! Thanks! I was accepted to the Fall 2014 cohort at the Gainesville campus.
Awesome! I got accepted into the Norcross 2014 cohort. It is difficult finding other people who have been accepted to Brenau. I would like to start a FB group. Maybe we could combine the two day programs (Norcross and Gainesville)? I know we start at different times but we can still help each other out and talk about classes and fieldwork experiences. Thoughts?

I received a call about my acceptance to Samuel Merritt Friday afternoon!
