THX ALL......I interviewed in October to all 3 schools in TX.....Overall GPA: 3.6 Sci GPA: 3.5 DAT 19/19/15 worked as a dental assistant for a while....Accepted to SA, Hous in December and Baylor today, with a scholarship even........now there is at least one more spot open in SA since im withdrawing my acceptance, hope one of you gets it....good luck

Ummm...so I have a couple of questions then...

1) Does this mean that second round acceptance letters have been sent out for Baylor?

2) Does anybody else know about anybody else that got a letter today?

Hang in there, your letter is coming...if not this week, then next, and if not the next for sure before classes begin!.....Just be patient! I know u'll get in...remember what you always tell me...just be positive and whatever is in u're destiny will happen. 😍
 
No one is being too nosy, i dont mind....My letter came today but was dated Feb 9, 2005. This was a second round letter.....right on naturegirl!!!....you can help me survive the first year.

So it looks like UT houston and Baylor are sending stuff out! man this sucks,I didn't get anything. I went to boston for an interview, great school. Wait i did get something, I got a tshirt from boston. I guess that counts! :laugh:

Would it be wise for me to visit the school to show my interest, now that its late in the game?

At the interview... they said that you would get a letter from baylor either way. If you havn't gotten a letter yet, could just mean that a) they're not sending them all out at once, or b) to get from Dallas to Austin mail distribution center to H-town... it's taking a while. Don't worry, bud, you're gonna get it this time.

San Antonio has been doing rolling admissions since late December. They don't have a second round. Right now, I think it's pretty much take-em-as-they-come. A bird at my Baylor interview in early Jan told me that San An was full already... but I didn't believe the bird... so believe in destiny, fairy winds -and of course -optimism in the face of uncertanty.

I'm really hoping for a letter soon. ___ knows that I need something to get me through this Mon. Maybe San Antonio can be my Valentine! 😍

JUST GOT OFF THE PHONE WITH BAYLOR. APPEARS THAT THEY HAVE FINISHED THE SECOND ROUNDS AND THE CLASS IS FULL. THERE WILL NOT BE AN ALTERNATE LIST UNLESS SOMEONE REJECTS THEIR ACCEPTANCE....AND IF THAT DOES HAPPEN THEIR ALTERNATE LIST WILL NOT COME OUT UNTIL LATE MARCH OR APRIL. AND TO FINISH IT OFF, I WAS TOLD THE CHANCES OF GETTING INTO BAYLOR FROM THE ALTERNATE LIST WAS VERY SLIM.

This is all new to me....do schools usually fill up this fast? Is it true that SA and H-town are already filled as well?

Does anyone know how many applicants there were this year?

I don't think second round has been sent out at UT houston, I mentioned earlier that it had, but I was mistaken, after talking to this person who apparently got accepted, they recieved there acceptance a couple of weeks ago. So it appears that UT houston has not sent out there second round yet. Still hope yet.

So it is safe to assume from what you are all saying is that Baylor is full, and UTSA possibly full and UT Houston is PENDING but also possibly full?
 
Did San Antonio even send out 2nd round acceptances? Anyone know somebody that received anything after the Dec. 1 acceptances?
 
Any students who got in last year, can you tell me what was the latest you heard of any students getting into UT houston, baylor or San Antonio.

Hi Everybody,

I am back from my grieving period (sort of) and feeling a bit better.
All I can say is that you guys hang in there. I am soon starting a new thread of "applying/re-applying to dental schools".
I was wondering if the people that got accepted could help me with the process and tell me what i should do now. There is something that you guys did that I didnt or something, 😳

Hi all,

I received an email response from Baylor today and learned that the Admissions Committee has completed the alternate list, and those letters were mailed out yesterday. Also, I was told that the Admissions Committee will meet again in late April/early May to select a few applicants for the Hold List.

Well, looks like Baylor is working hard at filling up..how bout anyone hearing anything from Houston (or SA)..the South Texas schools can't be that quiet..MAKE SOME NOISE!!! 😱
 
I talked to my friend tonight, and he's from Texas...has a stellar application (believe me, I know) and got into two schools out of state out of a busload applied to. None in Texas. Applied way back in June, too. I think it comes down to a matter of number of applicants to available seats...A lot of awesome applicants will get turned down. So even if Baylor (or whatever school) is full, isn't necessarily a reflection of the applicant...

TMDSAS for Texas residents only? How does it compare to AADSAS? Does it matter which one you use?

TMDSAS is for texas residents applying to the Texas schools. AADSAS is a national application service and goes to all schools. What is recommended, which is what I did, is to apply to TMDSAS for sure for the Texas schools (b/c apparently those are the applications they view first b/c they want tx residents). If you are applying to any out of state schools and have to go through the AADSAS process anyways, then just add the texas schools to that list as well....that way you are certain...either way...that the tx schools will get your application.

Good luck...the application process sux..glad i dont have to go thru that again...

Its odd that we both contacted Baylor and they told us two different things. I called them and they told me that there is no alternate list and wont be one until mid march/april. And that too is in the case that somebody rejects their acceptance to Baylor.
Its confusing, are they trying to tell us something????? 🙄

I'm not sure; it seems like everyone is told something different. I was just told that the alternate list was sent out. And as of now, I "have not been accepted" which I obviously knew since I never received a letter, and I was not "selected for the alternate list". However, I would still "be considered for the wait list". Pretty much a rejection, without actually receiving a rejection letter yet.

Either way, doesn't seem very promising, so I've pretty much given up on Baylor. 👎

And from what I've heard San Antonio is already "full". But I don't know if full means that they have already received deposits for all of their seats, or if they've mailed out that many acceptances. But that doesn't seem very promising either. 😡

Got off the phone with Baylor yesterday, and it seems that if you haven’t gotten an alternate/acceptance letter, there's very little chance (Straight from Dr. Long.) Dr. Long said that the average DAT for Baylor this year was a 20. Got off the phone with San Antonio this morning, and was told that the admissions committee is meeting tomorrow to make an alternate list, and to go over the declines of admission received up to this point.
