Hi everyone!
I just wanted to thank everyone for being so helpful and insightful during this interview process. Next week I'm interviewing at UCLA (Feb 26). Does anyone have any tips or advice about what to expect? Is the interview real intense or laid back? How many students are typically interviewed on the same date? Is the essay brief? Any insight or advice is deeply appreciated. Thank you.

* By the way, i have looked at SDN's interview feedback page but any other info. is appreciated. *

the essay is brief, but make sure you write it well, because you write your essay before you interview, so that the interviewers have a chance to read it.

Thanks Axum.

The essay is not bad at all. I actually think I wrote a pretty bad essay; I didn't even get a chance to read it over. My interview was very relaxing, I hardly was able to talk; my interviewer was talking the majority of the time about everything UCLA has to offer. You'll do fine, nothing to worry about!

Same for me, it was more about what UCLA has to offer. If you get an interview you're in good shape. Don't worry!

If you got an interview, your chances are very good that you'll get in. Everyone that interviewed at UCLA that I know was accepted. For me, the interview was one of the most enjoyable and laid back. My interview went over time, and the professor was nice enough afterwards to take me out to lunch on his own dime. I almost chose to attend UCLA due to my positive interview experience at the school alone.

The interview day has about 15-20 candidates. If you've interviewed anywhere else, this day will most likely be much more laid back and easy than any other interview. You write a quick essay, have one interview, and go on a quick tour. UCLA is interested in seeing if you would like the school and what they offer you rather than proving that you belong there. I have heard very few people that have had anything other than positive things to say about ther interview. If anything, UCLA doesnt give you any really cool folders or pamphlets, but... w/e.

hopefully that helps.

Again, thanks for all your responses. I really appreciate it. 😀
