Hey all, going to take the Psych shelf next upcoming week. I've been using First AID for the Psych clerkship, couple NBMEs, lange Q&A...
But tbh not really that different from what I did for COMLEX/USMLE... Is it essential to memory every little thing in FA? I have the big picture like all the important bolded stuff down and the meds, etc. Any advice? how hard is it?

I thought FA was useless for anything and everything in third year. Why haven’t you been doing Uworld or comquest? I don’t know anyone who used the resources you mentioned sans psych FA
I meant for Step 2. I don't have UWorld yet, I am waiting for it from my school

OP is talking about FA for the Psychiatry Clerkship, which is actually a solid book for the psychiatry shelf... at least it was 4 years ago.

still is. Looking over UWORLD quizlet cards for step 2, pretty much the same thing as FA. Material doesn't change just the Qs.

Step 1 psych and step 2 psych has always been pretty similar. FA psych is good as was uworld but FA psych is gold standard for shelf comat for psych

I’m well aware. And is literally what I said.
No its not. You said 'I thought FA was useless for anything and everything in third year.' Then hallow said its a solid book for the psych shelf... Not that I really have a 'dog in this fight' but you kinda did contradict yourself there and its not 'literally what I said.'

You made a mistake by not getting uworld yet. If it's the DO shelf I'd also add Comquest COMAT bank as well. FA for the psychiatric clerkship is probably the only non useless third year book beyond Step Up so good call with that, but you should be doing way more questions.

“sans psych FA.”

Dur dur dur

Same exact book buckaroo. There’s literally 0 contradiction. We’re talking about the same book. If you want to circle jerk about syntax and use of the word “literally” and how in this case it literally means the same as well, same, then be my guest

My first sentence, which you didn’t understand, was in reference to the First Aid series (including psych). Hence why I said sans the psych one since everyone besides me likes it seemingly. Follow now?
First of all lets not resort to attacks on each other, I was trying to be civil but I guess it is too difficult for you to do the same (I guess that explains the Probationary status you have). I guess I struck a nerve, but thats okay, probably was not the first time.
You just said 'I thought FA was useless for anything and everything in third year' and then you said 'I don’t know anyone who used the resources you mentioned sans psych FA.' So to interpret this for you, you just said you thought FA was useless and then you said you know people who used it. That still does not dismiss the fact that you are basically saying FA is useless for third year. And then someone Cheeni17 said FA Psych is 'gold standard for shelf COMAT' which is NOT what you said, you said its useless. So no, its not 'Exactly what you said' far from it.

And no its not syntax, its common sense and English. You just are too butt hurt that you contradicted yourself and others are pointing it out, but thats okay.

Also, be careful before getting too sensitive next time and calling people names, its kind of against the rules here on StudentDoc.

Its fine, I am using Lange Q&A and my school provides us with a ton of Questions. I also am using random online UWORLD flash cards that pretty much cover all the UWORLD Step 2 Questions.

Thanks for the advice!

Are you saying this strictly for the question style or content? I have no plans to use any DO resources beyond OMM COMAT. I have never had any issues with Comlex bull**** style language so do you think it matters?

Honestly uworld plus pestana plus FA psych and looking stuff up on UTD or whatever should be all people use for third year. Most the texts just suck teeters out there for step two. As of three years ago anyway. Same with shelf or comat stuff. Uworld uworld uworld can’t get enough of it

It's a lot of questions. 350-400 extra questions per rotation. It's completely different than their main qbank for Level 2 (which is absolutely terrible). I thought they were actually pretty good. Doing both the COMAT banks and UWorld for each rotation landed me by far higher than >120 on all COMATs except OMM and I ended up with 8XX on Level 2 and almost +40 points on Step 2.

Thanks to everyone on the good advice! Sans One person.. (hint hint: Necrofasc)
