Hello! Would appreciate any thoughts:

UMass

pros:
-18 month, p/f preclinical
-closer to home, but tbh this doesn't make much of a difference to me
-the students seem to loveeee the school
-a week off after every block which is amazing
-great at matching in the Boston area
-step 1 after preclinical
-ranked higher but idk if there is a perceived prestige difference between the two? i personally don't care much, but with step 1 being p/f....

cons:
-location
-in house exams
-not clear on whether attendance is required

Idk if this is a pro or con (or maybe a bit of both) but lead at lahey track -- I really love the idea of the track but it concerns me that it would be the first year for it

Stony brook

pros:
-18 month, p/f preclinical
-NBME exams
-would be a new place/experience, which I think I'd like
-lots of residency opportunities at SBU and in NYC, which is a dream
-smaller class size (137 vs 200-225, but I would be in a track at a different hospital at UMass so I think it wouldn't feel that big?)

cons:
-location
-loved my interviewers but students didn't seem as passionate about the school
-step 1 mid M3, more difficult for residency planning

I prefer big cities, but that's out of my control in this situation LOL. Both also seem to have good research and global health opportunities. Planning to go to both second looks to assess, but would love any input on these two!

Also, OOS for both of them so COA is essentially the same right now. Stony Brook could give IS tuition after M1, but unsure about whether I'd qualify for that
