Hey everyone!

I'm psychology major going into my junior year of college and need some advice.
GPA: 3.42
Pre-req GPA (so far):3.43

I'm looking at UofM-Flint currently. However, it states that you need above a 3.0 in all pre-reqs. I received a 2.0 in Chem I. At my university, one can not retake a class unless you get below a 2.0.

So, does that mean I can't apply to any school that requires above a 3.0 in the pre-reqs? Or is there a way around this I'm not aware of?

I'm confident that my GPA will keep increasing. I ended my freshmen year with a 2.7 GPA and have worked so hard to achieve the 3.42 I have now that it would be horrible if I couldn't apply to half the schools I want to due to my freshmen year mistake.

Also, I have AP credit for 3 classes (Bio 1/2, Intro Psych, and Intro Writing) that are generally pre-reqs to most PT schools. Do you guys have any advice as to whether I should take this classes at my university? I

Not sure about the AP credit transfer from HS, but you might have to retake them for an actual grade rather than credit.

As far as the Chem class, can you take next summer at a community college and just not have the credit transferred to your University? That might solve that GPA issue, since some schools will take the best GPA on a retake. Just a thought.

the "3.0 in all pre-reqs" means your *average* in all of the courses the school considers pre-reqs must be at least a 3.0. it doesn't matter if you got <3.0 in one or several of the classes, as long as the average is at least a 3.0 (not saying it doesn't hurt your chances to have <3.0 in a class, but it won't disqualify you from applying as long as your average is still at least a 3.0)

i don't think you can use any of your AP credit courses for your pre-reqs. I think they have to be actual courses you took at an accredited 2 or 4 year college.

Fair warning about the AP credits they have screwed me over! Unless you get a letter grade for them in your transcript, most schools won't make them. Some will if you got a 4 or 5 on the test.

Retake at a com college. might want to do the APs at CC as well. Many Pt programs don't take courses w/ less than C, meaning they won't accept a C-. PTCAS has their own scale for GPA and breaks it down for - and +
