SHould I just forget about pharmacy??... I took most of my pre-req at CC got 3.75 gpa with quite alot of Ws..bc not sure what I want to do. I transfer to 4 year school this year major in bio. I didn't do so well either my gpa right now is 1.2 bc of cell bio and organic. This fall, I'm planning to change my major to business and finish it in 2 years. Later, I can come back and start over again taking pre-req at CC then apply for pharmacy.. what do you guys think? is this a good idea? I just dont want to waste time and $$ if I don't have a chance since my gpa is so low...thank you for your comments..

First of all, I would say it's ok to do poorly in some classes as long as you retake those classes and do better and justify it in someway in your personal statement.
Additionally, you don't necessarily have to be a science major to go to pharmacy school. I will be getting my Bachelors in Finance in may and also got accepted to UB and Pittsburgh. If you are serious about pursuing a degree in business, I would use those two years to re-take any classes you need to retake and get as much pharmacy experience you can to show the schools that this is something you really want to pursue and you are dedicated towards.
Most schools have a point system to grant interviews, so if your GPA is below average, you need to make up the difference on the PCAT. So as long as you do well on your PCAT, you'll still have a chance. As far as the PCAT goes, some people like to take the Kaplan classes for about a grand, but It's not something you NEED to take in order to get into pharmacy school. I didn't do it and had a composite score of 84, so it really depends on how much time you are willing to put in to study for the test.

Hopefully this helps and good luck.

You need to evaluate what went wrong with your courses after the transfer. Highlighting what went wrong is the first step to solving the issues...

I would vote against heading back to a CC to complete my pre reqs - you need to progress academically - not revert.

Utilize ratemyprofessor.com to find the better professors. Avoid taking several difficult courses at the same time. I have a rule of two... never more than 2 at any given time.

There are a thousand different paths a person can take to pharmacy school - you simply need to find one that works for you...
