Hey everyone, I need some advice. I worked for a chain but wasn't offered a job by them. I used to get really nervous at interviews and so always did so badly. I've improved tremendously since that interview. I don't get nervous so I do very well. The last two interviews I had lasted about an hour each. The feedback I got during both interviews were also very positive. I felt I was going to be offered a job both times only to get disappointed later. What am I doing wrong? Am I being too honest by telling them I wasn't offered a job by my previous employer? Do I need to lie about that? I can't think of any other reason why I wasn't offered a job both times because they both went really well. I'm really getting fed up with these interviews.

Come on guys, ANY thoughts? I'm trying to figure out if I'm doing something wrong or if this is normal. Thanks for your input.

Post a video of your mock interview or a transcript of the interview. Then i will tell you what you are doing right or wrong. or maybe other applicants are just better than you.

It sounds like you are doing well on your interviews or at least improving, which is great! Maybe it's just luck of the draw and/or a competitive job market? You could try asking why you weren't offered a position. Though I'm not sure whether companies will tell you anything concrete (due to legal reasons).

P.S. I think it is normal to have to go through multiple interviews to find a job, especially these days. My Dad likes to tell a story about how he sent out over 100 applications when he graduated from college and couldn't get a single interview anywhere. He was starting to lose hope when he ended up landing a great job. He always tells me this story when I get down about things to remind me to keep on trucking. Sooner or later something will pan out if you keep your chin up and keep working hard.

So it's pretty normal? I guess I shouldn't give up just yet then. Does anyone think not being offered a job by the company I worked for could be a reason? Is there a way around that?

I wish I had that, would have posted it. You mean other applicants are better at interviewing? Probably. I'll work more on my interview skills.
