I was accepted to AZCOM and am really considering attending there. The preceptor based rotations sound really cool, but I would like to get some feedback from those currently doing those rotations. You can answer me on this thread or PM me.

This topic has been discussed at length. Do a review in DO forum regarding the topic "AZCOM get in while you can."

I am a fourth year DO student at AZCOM, on the Emergency interview trail. The above post has some points, but you have not heard the counter. I would love to give a counter when I have time, and when the above post is read regarding this topic.

Let me know.

Yeah, I agree with the kid. Do your homework first and then get back with any specific questions. One big difference in rotations is that (whether preceptor or hospital based) you have alot more responsibility as to what you are learning, no one's going to be giving you a syllabus.

I'm not going to answer here and get things started again. I will simply say that my preference, looking back, would have been to attend a school that DID NOT have a preceptor model. My responses are NUMEROUS if you search the topic.

Ice, your post is technically incorrect. I think I see what you mean, but it needs clarifying. AZCOM DOES give a syllabus of what they expect you to learn on the rotation. Thing is, if your rotation is weak, most of your learning comes from Harrison's (or Cecil's, or Schwartz, or whatever you're reading for whichever rotation). My argument has always been, if all you need is Harrison's, why bother going to med school?
