Hi, I am a senior bio major with a 3.86 CGPA and 3.89 SGPA. I took my DAT today for the first time and I scored 17AA 17TS and 16PAT. I know my scores are not high enough but i am wondering if there is a chance for me applying this year with these scores. Also, I have another question, what if I decide to not submit these scores to dental schools is it possible! because I want to make this time not count in my score report. 🙁

You need to retake the DAT. If you can get at least 19AA, you are good to go.

I would still apply though since your GPA is very good.

When you sign up to take the DAT you had to have created a DENTPIN. Unfortunately, your scores will be reported to any school you apply to since they will need to retrieve them via your DENTPIN.

Just retake and be sure to do better on your second try. Good Luck!

What school did you go to.
And retake.

I went to New Jersey City University for undergrad

Retake, but be confident because your GPA is great! Just study consistently, do lots of practice, and you'll be fine.

You have an excellent GPA... but remember, nothing can make up for either a sub-par GPA or DAT scores. I would recommend studying seriously for the next 3-4 weeks (take a ton of practice tests) and retake the exam. Aim for 20s across the board... but a 19 AA will most likely suffice

Great GPA. I am willing to bet $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ on this - score no less than 19 on every section and you'll at least have 5 interviews out of 12 schools you apply.

Sorry to say but I gotsta agree with the others. It seems a retake is in order 🙁

yeah, applying would be just a waste of money retake your DAT's, at least in 19, and you will have a handful of acceptances.

I would apply with it, and plan on retaking it as the others said. Then making sure your new scores get submitted also. You have at least 90 days to study (if memory serves me correct you have to wait 90 days to retake). Props on the gpa too!! I know if I were in your shoes I would try applying, retake, keep taking classes, keep EC's up and volunteering/ shadowing and if nothing happens this year apply again! Good luck!

EDIT: Check out the schools that say the minimum DAT AA is 17, with your gpa, you may be lucky and get an interview, opposed to the students with an AA of 18 or 19 and a sgpa of 3.3? Just something I thought about after I had posted.
