I'm a Corporate Communications major applying to dental school. (Halfway through my junior year I decided i wanted to go to dental school) If any of you are comm majors (which i doubt) what are you putting as your major on the AADSAS, since comm isnt a choice???

I REALLY hate to put "other"

thanks

Hi Rob,

I graduated in 2004 with a degree in Communications, and then did a post-bac. I put "Other" as my major on my app, because really nothing else applied at all. I have noticed on so many forms that Communications is not an option, so I'm used to it. I spoke about the major in my essay, and my coursework pretty much shows I was a communications/graphic design major. I wish there was a place to fill in "other" (they should add that in the next application) but I'm sure your coursework will prove what type of major you were! good luck!

I was a Comm major too, although I did double major in Neuroscience. I used the Comm major to my advantage and really emphasized how that major set me apart from your standard bio major on the essay. If you have solid stats, especially with your science courses you'll be in great shape.

It can be that quirky thing in your app that you can talk about in the interview where you can really show yourself off.

Great advice pts218! I was also a corporate comm major at UT austin and I feel you on having to choose "other"....as if communications wasnt good enough to make it on the list.
