Hi,

I'm doing my internship in a dental school of India.. After completing my BDS, I'd like to do any fellowship program in US if there's any for Foreign Dental Graduates.. And if I can join any such program, will I be able to practice on the same fellow degree in India afterwards? The reason why I'm not opting MDS and want to do so is that I'm getting married to a US resident doctor after I'm done with BDS and he will be joining his fellowship program for 3 years there.. But we have no plan to stay there permanently due to some personal reasons.. So I would also like to do fellowship in dentistry if I can.. But I have no idea about that.. Can anybody guide me for this?.. ( I really don't want to take NBDEs and repeat 2 years with such a high fees of dental schools as we are firm to get back to India and practice here).

Hey Gal, ofcourse many dental schools offer fellowship programs but most of the schools u have to pay tuition for the respective fellowship program but u dont have to worry abt the fees its not too much like DDS but it should be almost 20k. check university of kentucky louiseville dental school i knw they have fellow programs and also check other dental schools too. And remember admission is very very very very competative u need to have high recommendations ur resume shud be very strong just wid BDS wud fetch u no where.
all the best.

Thanks a lot.. Actually I haven't done anything in US yet.. I don't even possess a visa.. Talking about my resume, I did BSc, One diploma course, MSc and then joined BDS.. I'm almost 29.. So yes, I do possess something more than what usually a BDS student in India possesses.. But I haven't done anything in U.S. yet.. What do you think? Is my profile good enough that way to get a fellowship? Is there any test I should take?

It would be great if you can send me some websites and links to know more about getting into fellowship in US after BDS, because I've been searching on google but haven't got anything particular as yet..

Thanks again for your kind response.. I appreciate..

Hi do you know about the preceptorships?

this are the cheapest courses and you can get easily into.
UCLA has many types of preceptorships, but only 2 are clinical (Restorative Dentistry and Esthetic Dentistry).
The clinica preceptorships cost around 23 to 30k per year.
the non-clinical preceptorships (observationship) cost around 5 thousand per 3 months.
There are some "specialty" programs at NYU for foreign dentists but they are very expensive, the cost is around 75k plus 30k living in NYC.
there are more preceptorships at USC, LLU, UCSF and Columbia University.
At USC, each month costs 7 000
at UCSF, 3 months for 5 000
at LLU, 4 months cost 15 000
Columbia University, one month for 8 000
all that cost plus your room, food and everything.
aaaa and there is a new preceptorship at Washington University, but it is only observationship, the cost is 35k per year.
