Hey guys,

I'm really close to e-submitting. I just wanted to get one last set of feedback regarding which schools I should apply to. Just a quick recap of my stats: 3.38 overall, 3.26 science, 23 TS, 22 AA, 22 PAT. Many hours (400+) of dental volunteering in underserved communities. Also, I'm CA resident.

UCSF
UoP
UCLA
USC
Western
ASDOH
UNLV
Columbia
NYU
Penn
Michigan
Boston University

Should I add Maryland? Maybe replace it for BU? I did a few classes at a community college after my four years of undergrad at UC (which is why I didn't put Temple or Tufts on there). I'm trying to keep it around a dozen schools because of my personal budget limitations.

Thanks for any help!

How many CC classes is a few? I would apply to Maryland and VCU, two schools that are OOS unfriendly. Also, although your DAT is competitive, I would reconsider Penn...Columbia is similar in admissions and price, probably a little easier to get into (consider).

Is my GPA too low for Penn? Like will they not offer interviews to anyone below a certain GPA?

1. Your GPA is on the lower end for Penn. I personally think you have a better shot at Columbia because of your high DAT.
2. Like Dentalworks pointed out, add Detroit Mercy.
3. Don't replace BU with Maryland. You have a much better shot at BU than at Maryland.

I'm also considering adding UW as a reach school. So, along with Maryland, that'd bring the total to 14 schools. Expensive, but... it's all an investment, right?

If you are not a Washington state resident, a high DAT won't rescue the lower sGPA at UW. UW is not OOS friendly at all. I'd save the extra cash and buy a few nice pens for when you are a DS student.
