Hi,

I'm spending a whole year doing clinical research in ophthalmology. I want to use this opportunity to gain some hands-on ophthalmic skills, such as slit lamp, using Volk lens, and applanation tonometry.

Is there any good, preferably small, books that you recommend on slit-lamp examination?

These two seem to fit the bill:
1. The slit-lamp primer http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/15...ref=sr_1_1/002-4151421-4524013?_encoding=UTF8
2. http://www.twinchimney.com/Pages/Csab.html

I know that I've got to practise a lot, but I'll rather read about it, get it clear in my mind, then practise on the poor patients.

And what do you guys think about buying an ophthalmoscope on ebay? Any good recommendations?

SJKPark,

If you're still around - and I hope you are - just wondering where you did your clinical research stint, and how you got in (meaning how did you find out about the opportunity, word of mouth vs. posting on SF match or other resources, etc)

Thanks very much!

Try reading the book practical ophthalmology.
