Hello,

I'm starting premed at Howard University. I was wondering if there are some Howard premeds on here that can help give me some in sight before starting. I'm a non traditional student I already have a college degree coming back to do my pre med at howard. Im pretty young but I still feel nervous about being back and competing with younger students. I feel behind and nervous Im taking general chem, bio 101, and intro to physics. Wondering if any SDNers on here could help me out. Or can just share their experience as far as the courses and professors go. Thanks and I look forward to meeting some people from howard regardless if you are just starting or if you finished your premed either way I'd love to hear from you. I hear its best to go through this journey with other people instead of going at it alone. Thanks for reading🙂

This should be your starting place:
Contact Information:

Dr. Clarence M. Lee, Interim Director
Ms. Julie C. Andrist, M.Ed., Assistant Coordinator/Preprofessional Advisor

Tel: 202-238-2363
Fax: 202-588-9828
Email: [email protected]
Center for Preprofessional Education, College of Arts and Sciences
Howard University
2225 Georgia Avenue NW, RM 518, Washington, DC 20059

I know that Howard has a very well-organized pre-med advising and academic counseling program. Dr. Lee (or someone from his office) should be able to assist you in planning your pre-med work.

I also know that Princeton Review and Kaplan both hold seminars and MCAT review courses on Howard's campus. In addition, Kaplan has a huge center in downtown DC which is easily reached by Metrorail (Farragut North or Dupont Circle).

Start with contacting the above office. You might also see if you can meet up with some of the sophomore/junior students in Bio and Chemistry who could advise you in terms of professors/courses. I do know that Howard has an outstanding chemistry department that is quite rigorous.

Good luck and enjoy your Howard experience.

that is so helpful. thanks

I plan to transfer there in the Fall.

I'm also non-traditional.

Thanks NJBMD for the advice! I really appreciate it! Did you complete your premed at howard? Btw you mentioned that people dont like mentioning where they went for undergrad, I don't understand what the problem with howard is! It's a great school!!!!!

people here just like to remain anonymous esp because many of us post our scores, grades, etc and likely have many classmates who read SDN.

Can I still apply to Howard's BS/MD program if I am going for the Feburary deadline (also can you please tell me the deadline for the program and the actual school - they are pretty close I think)
