Any info on loan repayment as perks?

I have a friend who is going into another field, which by the way is not primary, who was told as part of his already cush perk package he could get up to $150,000 in loan repayment for a four year commitment at this certain hospital.
Any knowledge about this? is this common? thanks

Thats amazing...I was thinking only primary care docs who went into rural areas would get loan forgiveness or assistance. How common is it for sign-on bonuses like this to be offered? Is it usually only offered by hospitals in less-desirable areas?
