Hi, I just received an invitation to go to their interviews.

I've tried to research a little bit on this forum regarding MU's interviews but I did not find much.

Does anyone know how they conduct their interviews?

Also, does anyone know what kind of students they tend to end up with? Stats wise.

because im west coast and im trying to limit the amounts of my east coast interviews

thank you!

I got invited too, but debating on attending it or not.
Their PTCAS page says
Overall Undergraduate Cumulative 3.54
Prerequisite sciences 3.57
All prerequisites combined 3.61

I was invited for an interview as well and am planning on attending. I was also looking from some insights on the interview. I am a west coaster as well!

I am a first year dpt student at Marshall. I might see a few of you over the next few days. I'll be there Thursday afternoon and Saturday morning. Please ask any questions you have, I hope this is not too late as I just saw this thread.

I'll see you Saturday morning then! I can't wait to check out the school and program! I'm kinda anxious about the interview, though... Could you by chance give me an idea of how the interview process works and what kind of questions to prepare for?

Hello, tmoyer32! I will be there on Thursday afternoon for interview!
I am so excited and nervous about the interview and visiting campus. I really appreciate if you don't mind providing any advice or specific questions that I have to be aware of during interview?

I will see you on Thursday session. Thank you very much!

The interview is pretty informal as in questions but they do look for people who will standout. At least that's what it seemed to me. What I mean is it's in your best interest to be social and to get to know everyone. Most people come in tense and worried but this will definitely be one of the more layed back interviews you have. At least for us there was no drilling of questions and the one on one for me was going over my application. The prof I was with for my one on one was telling me about the program and answering any questions I had more than asking me questions. Sadly, I don't remember my questions I was asked. I would definitely ask questions to really show your interest. Any other questions or concerns you have before the interview or after feel free to ask.

I will see you then! I just replied on the interview process above. You all will do great. My name is Ted, I'll be one of two classmates there Thursday and one of three on Saturday, Lyanochka.

Here is one of my friends/classmates post on the interview process. This is very well explained

As you may already know the interview will be a group interview and there will be multiple sessions. If I am not mistaken interviews will be held Jan 7-9 twice a day, mornings and evenings. Each group of applicants will consist of roughly 40-50 students. So you figure a total of about 240-300 students will be there over the course of 3 days. Expect a meet and greet with faculty and students(I will most likely be there), an overview of the program, an activity, a tour, a group interview with 6-8 students and 1 faculty in small seminar rooms that are equipped with an audio/video recording system (not sure if they are actually used during the interviews), and a 1 on 1 interview with a faculty member to discuss your application/your profile and any questions you might have.

When he was asked about the questions- So as you can imagine they aren't very personal questions (Because it is a group interview). I think I recall being asked my pet peeve and what I do when it happens (i.e. people dragging their feet when they walk). I would advise you not to be a wallflower during this. Interact with other people in your group!

That is all so helpful! Thank you very much for your insight! I really do appreciate it! 🙂

Hey! I'd be happy to share my stats. I'm a first year at Marshall. My overall GPA was a 3.78, science was 3.6. My GrE was really bad.. So I think my GPA really helped me to get accepted. I had a lot of hours. Around 800 maybe. I don't remember exactly but I worked at an outpatient/inpatient clinic for 2.5 years in undergrad. Message me if you have any other questions or anything!

Thank you so much! Hope school is going well!

And how bad was your GRE? Because mine is bad

Hey all. Marshall's DPT is my top choice because it's the closest program to me and it's in state. I know this is an old thred, but what do you all think my chances are? My stats are kind of the opposite of your alls (low GPA, decent GRE).
PTCAS Total GPA: 3.20
PTCAS Pre-req GPA: 3.22
Marshall Pre-req Science GPA: 3.61
Marshall's Pre-req Total: 3.59
GRE: V: 153 Q: 162 W: 4.0

Like stated before, Marshall is my top choice, but it worries me to see that in previous years their classes are made up by mostly out of state students.

Yeah I wonder why they accept so many from out of state?

Hey all, wondering what my chances are as well.
cGPA: 3.61
pGPA: 3.43
GRE: 152V, 150Q, 4AW

When do they usually send out interviews? December?

Thanks all

Interviews last year were the second week of january. Im almost positive that this will be the case this year as well. The secretary here told me the other day that it was either the first or second week in january. Last year it was the second weekend.

Yeah I wonder why they accept so many from out of state?

The only reason there are so many out of state students is because of huntingtons location being in the tristate area. The majority of people in my class are from surrounding states, not necessarily far away. There are a few from other states far away, but most are close by, but out of state. Thats the only reason they accept more out of state.

Marshall assigns a numerical score to every applicant. The score is weighted from most to least in the following order: GPA (Marshall Science, Marshall Prereq, PTCAS Prereq, PTCAS cumulative), GRE, LOR, Essay, and then extracurriculars. Interviews are sent out based on the total numerical score of the application as described above.

I would say your odds of getting an interview is between 60-70% based on what you have shared.

@ Beef-Tank, what do you think my odds are? My GRE is "meh" at best. Also, what courses are included in the Marshall Pre-req Science GPA/Marshall's Pre-req Total
